Feb. 21 Wilmette's Walter Sobel, 93, got the lieutenant's bars he never received at the end of World War II. The bars were presented to Sobel by U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk at a ceremony in the Wilmette Public Library during the regular monthly meeting of the World War II Roundtable. Sobel's son, Richard, and daughter, Nancy, were also present. Participating in the program were Bill Rooney, Sanford Kahn, Bert Wagner, Jerry Wagner. Roundtable members discuss their feelings about the War in Iraq.
