Loyola student-artists Abigail Carney of Wilmette, Hillary Plunkett of Long Grove and Cora Rivera of Chicago had works accepted for exhibit at the Drexel University Juried Photography Show Jan. 27-Feb. 17.
Maggie Wright of Wilmette won first place in the Wilmette Arts Guild competition Feb. 8. Other students who received honorable mentions included: Grace Arbuclke, Kathleen Burns-Wick, Lem McCormick, Kristin O'Connor, Hillary Plunkett, Annie Raccuglia, and Chris Rodrigiuez
Latin team competed at North Side College PRep in the last Certamen of the season Feb. 6. The upper Level finished second with the team of Thuong Do, Chris Ell, Angela Ginocchio, Kelly Jenko, Charlotte Melbinger, George Saad, Kirie Stromberg. The Lower Level finished second with the team of Joe Ahmad, Catherine Groden, Nicole Homerin, and Andrew McDonell. The Novice Level finished second with the team of Dan Gordon, Mary Kate Green, Chris Hauser, Kevin McDonell, Jannard Remo, Michael Stralka and Isabelle Yisak. Team coaches are William Lowe of Evanston, David J. Mathers of Chicago, Thomas Strunk III of Chicago and M. Rebecca Wick of Lake Forest.
Michael Bishop of Northbrook won first place in the Junior American Citizen Contest, sponsored by the North Shore chapter of the Daughters of the AMmerican Revolution by writing an essay on Jamestown Colony in Virginia.
Congratulations to Varsity Ramblerettes who took second place in the jazz category and fourth in the poms category Jan. 28 at the UDA Regional Tourament at Glenbrook South. The dance team qualified for the state competition with both dances
Loyola's weekly Missions Collection is collecting funding for St. Aloysius Gonzaga High School in Nairobi, Africa.
