Mario Billings, 34, pleaded guilty last week to the Sept. 5 burglary of a Wilmette home, and was sentenced to 15 years in prison. He had received a 7-year sentence in August 2003 for the Dec. 28 burglary of another Wilmette home. The earlier case was famous because homeowner Hale DeMar shot Billings when he returned a second time to steal additional items. Bilings was released on parole this fall. Less than a week after being granted parole, he robbed a house on the 800 block of Michigan Avenue in Wilmette, Aug. 31, while a family of four slept. Police tracked him by following the use of stolen credit cards in Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago.
