Residents in northern Cook County are living in a quarantined area to protect the rest of the state from the emerald ash borer. Those who remove ash wood from the area bounded by Lake-Cook Road, the Tri-State Tollway, Lake Michigan and on the south along Touhy face a fine of up to $500.
