The controversial Wilmette Village Center project was approved Oct. 12 in a 4-3 vote by Wilmette Plan Commissioners. Comments by panel member Ron Grossman. The developers have lowered the planned height by four feet and pledged to have the building certified as the North Shore's first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Building. Several issues still remain to be resolved including some concerning "affordable housing" and also Wilmette's flood-control regulations.
