Mrs. Anthony French Merrill, 78, died Sunday, December 3, at the home of her daughter in New York. She was a grandniece of the pioneer novelist, James Fenimore Cooper, and the daughter of pioneer educator, Fenimore Pomeroy. Her grandfather, Seth Pomeroy, was commander of the Massachusetts troops at the opening of the Revolutionary war.
