John T Pirie II

After a long illness John Thomas Pirie II, [illegible], of [illegible] Laurel Avenue, Winnetka, Vice-President and director of Carson Pirie Scott and Company Chicago department store died December 17 in the Presbyterian Hospital, Chicago. Sevices were held December 14 at Christ Church, Winnetka. Interment was private.

Mr. Pirie, who had resided in Winnetka nearly a quarter century, was named for his grandfather, one of the founders of the Chicago store. Following his graduation from Princeton University in 1924, he joined the family firm and became sucessively manager of the credit sales department and in May of last year, a divisional vice president.

Served in World War II

He was a member of the Indian Hill Club and of the University Club Chicago. He served as a lieutenant of the Navy during World War II.

He leaves his widow Alice Quarles Pirie; two daughters, Mrs. W. [unclear] Donald Roberts Jr. and Alice Louise, a son William Quarles Pirie; a grandcaughter; two brothers, Lockwood M. of Miama and Samuel of Winnetka; and a sister, Mrs. benamin D. Williams, of East Norwich, N.Y.
