- Full Text
Calvin M. Burghalter, husband of Mrs. Beatrice Pease Burghalter, of Kenilworth, was drowned Monday morning of this week at Elbow lake, Wausaukee, Wis., when his canoe overturned a short distance from the shore. The couple had been married at the home of the bride, 320 Leicester road, Kenilworth, on the preceding Saturday morning, and were on their honeymoon at the time of the accident.
According to the reports of the accident, Burghalter had started for a walk along the lake while his wife remained in their cabin. A neighbor, who was working in front of an adjoining cabin, heard cries for help and saw Burghalter sinking near the overturned canoe which was about 40 feet from the shore.
Funeral services were held at the Rosehill chapel Wednesday afternoon of this week.
