Mrs. Sybell S. Vennema passed away last Saturday at the Evanston hospital, following an illness of about a year. Mrs. Vennema, 58 years old, was the wife of John Vennema, Netherlands counsul-general in Chicago, and a resident at 849 Willow road, Winnetka. She was well known as a painter and sculptress, was a founder and past officer of the North Shore Art league, and a life member of the Art institute of Chicago. She had also been active for years in the Chicago Congregational union, as well as church work in Winnetka. Mrs. Vennema was born in Chicago and lived in Winnetka for 17 years. In addition to her husband she leaves a son, John Jr., who attends Duke university, a daughter, Mrs. Anderson A. Owen, 306 Woodstock avenue, Kenilworth, and a sister, Mrs. Parker A. Jenks of Chicago. Funeral services were held at the Congregational church chapel in Winnetka on Monday, followed by interment at Memorial Park.
