David Strube, 51, a 27-year resident of Wilmette, died May 20 at home after a year long battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).

Mr. Strube was born in Belleville, Ill. He was an avid sports enthusiast and die-hard fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. Mr. Strube is remembered by many for his longtime participation in the McKenzie School variety show in roles such as Elvis Presley and Julia Child. He was inspired by the French language and dreamed of more extensive travel in France. He enjoyed the study of history and reading historical fiction.

Survivors include his wife, Leta (nee Cowan); two daughters, Hillary and Kathryn; a son, Timothy; his father, Carl of Jerseyville, Ill.; and two sisters, Charlene Milne and Susanne Beck.

A memorial visitation was held May 23 at Donnellan Funeral Home in Skokie. Memorial donations may be made to the Les Turner Foundation, 8142 N. Lawndale Ave., Skokie IL 60076.
