Won the Warren Cup at Skokie Saturday by Defeating J. L. Lane in Finals, 6 up and Five to Play


Roger Sherman won the W. S. Warren cup Saturday at Skokie when he defeated J. L. Lane in the finals by 8 up and 5 to play. Lane had five strokes on Sherman but was unable to hold his opponent who went out in 34 beating par by 2 up. The qualifying round for the President's cup, the Directors' and the M. B. Orde cups was also played Saturday, sixteen qualifying in each cup. Following are the results: President's Cup-Gordon Copeland, 77; H. A. Fleader, 79; J. M. Sheldon, 80; P. Manchester, 81; S. A. Wilmart, 82; R. L. Davis, 84; L. K. Stewart, 84; A. G. Bennett, 84; M. Paul Noyes, 84; F. E. Miller, 85; Douglas Smith, 85; A. E. McCordic, 86; Gordon Sibley, 856; Woodworth Sibley, 87; M. B. Orde, 87, and G. J. Pope, 87. Pairings for the first round are as follows: Copeland and Noyes, Wilmarth and G. Hale and Fraser Hale are entred in the Pater-Fillus match at the Midlothian Country club in Blue Island, Ill., Wednesady. The first round match play will be held on Saturday and on the 17th the first eighteen holes of play for the J. L. Land trophy open only to those who have never won a prize. A mixed foursome will be played on the 15th. Mrs. Geo. Hill entertained a party of twelve the other evening. Judge C. M. Foell entertained a party of four.

Doings at the Club

The work on the new club house has been progressing. The outside work with the exception of the roof is nearing completeion. Some of the guests during the past week were G. J. Floyed, Riverside, J. P Barrett, Chicago; Miss Sara M. Brantingham and C. S. and Alan Brantingham, Rockford, Ill.; and R. C. Butler, Chicago; Mrs. E. C. Gale, Chicago; W. G. Walling, Hubbard Woods; W. R. Davis, Evanston.
