Notes:
An Evanston resident wrote a critical letter to the editor about a meeting of the Progressive Party held recently in Evanston. He is a supporter of Theodore Roosevelt for president. Although he was a member of the committee of one hundred organizing the local Progressive Party, he was asked when he arrived at the meeting to sign a pledge binding him to support national and state third party tickets. Mr. Nightengale and Mr. Ickes told him that if he didn't sign the pledge, he wouldn't be admitted to the meeting. He signed the pledge and entered the meeting after seeing other men walk away. He stated in his letter that he will not attend future meetings of the local Progressive Party and he will maintain allegiance to Roosevelt.
