About 250 people participated June 18 in the Leukemia Research Foundation's first 3K walk benefit and Survivors' Strut held in Wilmette. Comments by cancer survivor Sharon Arkin of Glenview who was joined on the walk by her friend Diane Comin of Wheeling. The Becker family of Wilmette participated including parnets Eliot and Diane with children Rachel and Olivia. More than 250 people participated in the Wilmette event which coincided with the Jim Gibbons Walk and Survivors' Strut in Chicago. The two events raised over $100,000. The Leukemia Research Foundation moved its headquarters to Wilmette, 3520 Lake Ave., last year.
