ComEd and the Illinois Suburban Cook County Regional Office of Education -- North Area Spelling Bee will be hosted once again by Kenilworth School District 38 at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The Joseph Sears School Parents Volunteer Association is sponsoring the bee as well.

• As the culmination to a year-long preparation and study of author Gary Marx's book, Sixteen Trends: Their Profound Impact on Our Future, parents, community members and educators met in multiple venues to hear his presentations. This event was sponsored by the school, District 38 and the Family Awareness Network of New Trier Township.
• Some upcoming dates:

Feb. 5 -- Special meeting of the Board of Education, 7 p.m.

Feb. 6 -- Annual Scamper event -- Nygaard Auditorium, 7:15 p.m.

Feb. 9 -- 2009-2010 kindergarten registration (MPR), 4-6 p.m.

Feb. 10 -- North Area Spelling Bee -- Nygaard Auditorium, registration begins at 6:30 p.m., and the competition starts at 7 p.m. (Registered district winners only will compete).

Feb. 13 -- Teacher's institute day; no school for students.

Feb. 16 -- Presidents Day holiday; no school.

Feb. 17 -- Regular meeting of the Board of Education, 7 p.m.
