The Harper PTO has added a new PTO General Board Position. Frankie Kirby has volunteered to chair the new Community Service committee. Her responsibilities could include: Coordinating a Sister School program, scheduling an afternoon of community service projects for students and families, and announcing various family-appropriate volunteer opportunities via the PTO Web site and the Harper Happenings.

• Harper is pleased to welcome back Alaskan author Debbie Miller who will visit Harper's second-grade classes on Wednesday.

• An evening PTO meeting, co-sponsored with Family Awareness Network, featuring the husband-and-wife team of Dr. Dan and Meg Haycraft, will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday. They will discuss ways to "Take Back Your Family Life."
• The Harper gym will be open to students and their families Feb. 9 and 23, and March 2, 9 and 16. Open gym will be supervised by a District 39 gym teacher, but parents are required to stay with their children.
