Actors Training Center at the Wilmette Theatre, 1122 Central Ave., Wilmette. (847) 251-8710. Six-week stand-up comedy class for grades 9-12 begins Jan. 24. Professional comic Greg Mills teaches the class, which culminates in a performance on the Wilmette Theatre stage. Topics include selecting materials, honing stage persona, stage movement, microphone technique and dealing with hecklers. "The Making of an Independent Horror Film," an eight-week class for high school students, begins Jan. 25. Students will be cast, rehearse, and then shoot an independent horror film on location. The film will premiere at the Wilmette Theatre. This class delves into all aspects of filmmaking, including three positions for non-actors that wish to work behind the camera as crew, shooting and editing. Interview required. "Acting for the Camera," an eight-week class grades 6-8, begins Jan. 25. The class teaches the art of acting for the camera, using actual commercial, film and sitcom scripts.
