Notes:
A new copper roof at the entrance of St. Joseph's Church in Wilmette is guarded to prevent theft of the expensive metal. The Wilmette Police Department recently charged several men with theft after conducting surveillance at a different construction site. Charged with theft are Thomas Martinez, 28; Alirio Sanchez, 35; Gumercindo Bautista-Garcia, 38; and Carlos Castro, 35. Jose Gomez, 25, was charged with driving without a license. The men are scheduled to appear Monday in Cook County 2nd District Circuit Court, Skokie.
