Notes:
More students are taking a year off between high school and college. Every year about 70 New Trier students out of over 1000 opt for some kind of interim program. Gap year is defined by New Trier as "a post-high school opportunity for self-exploration and personal growth, leading to clearer direction and motivation for college studies and for life. It may include travel, cultural immersion, directed study, service or conservation projects, internship opportunites." Comments by James Noyes, class 2006
