Description
Full Text

While merit is always in a way recognized, some people live a life of unusual fineness and beauty, but live it so quietly and simply that they do not attract large notice or attention. Miss Carolyn Norris whose death occurred in July was like that. The ripples of her gentle, fine influence were not set in motion with any great splash, but they will spread farther than any one guesses. You must have read the "Collect for Club Women" by Marie Stuart which for many years has been printed on the first page of our club year book, beginning with these lines:

"Keep us, Oh God, from pettiness; let us be large in thought, in word, in deed. Let us be done with fault finding and leave off self-seeking. May we put away all pretense and meet other face to face, without self-pity and without prejudice. May we never be hasty in judgment and always generous. And O Lord God, let us not forget to be kind." I quote these lines because they express Miss Norris to me as I have known her for the past twenty years. [written by L.C.B.]
