Fridstein, Robert B. (Bob)

longtime Glencoe resident passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on May 29, 2010 in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. He is survived by his wife Margery Kreeger Fridstein. Bob was a well known Chicago architect, contractor and real estate developer. After serving in World War II Bob went to work with his father and later founded Fridstein & Fitch a successful architectural practice with offices in the Chicago Loop. In the 1970's Bob formed Fridstein and Murray, a contracting and real estate development firm. In 1988, he and Margery moved to Snowmass Village, Colorado where he continued his work in real estate development and property management. Bob was an active member of many civic and charitable organizations in the Chicago area including the Jewish Community Centers, Young Men's Jewish Council and Congregation Bene Shalom for the Deaf. He served in a myriad of North Shore organizations throughout his 35 years as Glencoe resident. While living in Snowmass Village, Colorado, Bob served in leadership roles in many organizations including the Presidency of the Snowmass Rotary as well as serving as a long time member of the Snowmass Village Council. Throughout his life Bob enjoyed many affiliations and activities. As a young man he was a dedicated Boy Scout, and Scout leader, who achieved Eagle Scout recognition as well as The Order of the Arrow. He was always involved and invested in some form of important community service work. He was an avid golfer, skier, outdoorsman and traveler. He loved people and was a friend to many. However, his focus and passion was always on his wife and his family. Bob was the devoted father of four children: Peggy (Raymond) Gordon, Thomas (Darlene) Fridstein, Kathy Fridstein (Mark Manley) and Nancy Fridstein (Richard Tallian) and the loving grandfather to 11 grandchildren: Amanda Gordon (Ben Kornblet), Douglas (Debbie) Gordon, Carolyn (Harley) Rosenthal, Jessica Fridstein, Darcie Fridstein (Loren Peterkin), Melissa Fridstein, Heather Manley, Eric Manley, Sarah Tallian, Dylan Tallian and Graham Tallian and a great grandfather to Chase Kornblet. Bob was the brother of the late Donald Fridstein. He was the brother in law of Patsy (Donald) Fridstein, Carol (Donald) Davidson and the uncle of Stanley (Gail) Fridstein, Audie Fridstein, Cynthia Davidson (Jeff Bjork) and Jeff Davidson. Memorial Services will be held on August 1, 2010 at the Snowmass Chapel in Snowmass Village, Colorado.
