Former Village of Wilmette Trustee Ernest C. Cazel, 85, died June 1 in Evanston Hospital. Mr. Cazel, a 67-year resident of the community, lived at 818 Lyden Ln.
Born in Olney, Ill., Mr. Cazel came to Wilmette in 1905, where he became one of the community's best known citzens. He served as a village trustee from 1927-31. He was a retired druggist, having worked at the Ridge Rd. Pharmacy, 901 Ridge Rd., for 64 years.
He was a member of the Wilmette Presbyterian Church, Augusta N. Gage Council No. 124, the Glenview Shrine, the Wilmette Chamber of Commerce, the Wilmette Rotary Club, Wilmette Lodge 931 AF and AM, Evanston Commandry K T No. 58, and the Oriental Consistory of the Medinah Temple.
He is survived by his widow, Polly; a daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Koch of Van Nuys, Cal.; six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Masonic services were held Friday in William H. Scott Wilmette Chapel, with interment in Memorial Park Mausoleum in Skokie.
